NKD SKN Self-Tan Review_ The Tinted Tan Mousse Self-Tanner

Self-tanning products gained popularity among those who wish for a rich sunkissed glow.

With these products, you no longer need to expose yourself to harmful UV rays and tanning beds!

You only need to apply a decent amount of self-tanner, and you’re all set!

Many brands of self-tanner popped up left to right due to their hot demand. One product we want to review is the NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse.

To give you an idea, we heard that this brand doesn’t leave a funky smell, and it’s what everyone came to love about it.

Let’s find out if it’s a great brand to consider over famous names on the market.

Overview of the NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse

Overview of the NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse

NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse is made of natural ingredients and free from harsh chemicals that could irritate and dry the skin.

It has a thin, bubbly consistency with a dark-color guide. Powered by odor-remove technology, this brand also ensures that you don’t smell a hint of DHA.

You literally won’t smell funky the next morning when you’re ready to get the residue washed.

As indicated on the package, you can expect a dark shade of tan 60 minutes after application. However, many users said it took them a few hours before achieving that tan look.

Applying this product is a piece of cake! You can get a sunkissed tan color with this tinted tan mousse in four steps:

  1. Exfoliate dry skin, especially around your elbows, ankles, and knees
  2. Lather the product bit by bit, from your feet, legs, and up your body using the mitt
  3. Wait for several hours for it to dry and develop
  4. Rinse excess self-tanning mousse in the shower

And voila!

You can already flaunt your sunless tan complexion. NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse is a good product, especially for those with light to medium tones.

NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse Review

NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse Review-

Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars

We heard many things about this self-tanning mousse, like its smell and color. So, for curiosity’s sake, we searched the internet to learn more about this product.

This review will share everything we learned about this tan in a bottle

Looks, Feel, & Smell

As previously mentioned, this tanning product has a dark guide that looks almost pitch black. Texture-wise, it has a thin and bubbly feel that’s light and airy.

On the other hand, the smell of this brand is literally its MAIN ASSET.

Unlike other brands, this formula is powered by Odor Remove Technology. It doesn’t leave a funky scent usually produced by DHA!

You may still smell a hint of DHA after leaving the product overnight. But, it’s not as strong as in several brands.

Application, Directions, and Usage

The application of this tanning formula is pretty easy! Lather the mousse on your skin in the shower after exfoliating your elbows, knees, and ankles.

You can also use the tanning mitt included in the package to protect your fingers from getting that dark color stain.

But, despite its ease of application, users have bad experiences with this product.

Its dark color guide drips EVERYWHERE down your legs with its thin consistency. This leaves streaks and splotches as you continue to apply the mousse.

The dark guide even stained towels and clothes.

Applying it moments before going out is a BIG NO-NO. You should apply this at night so that the residue can be showered off the next morning.

You must also let the product dry before having your night’s rest or before you sit on your favorite couch.

Many were also disappointed with the mitt on the package because of its size. It can only fit three fingers, and your hand can still get stained with the dark guide during application.

Tanning Effect

The color produced after application looks streaked and splotchy.

But, once the mousse was showered off, the streaks were thoroughly washed away, but so was the dark tan.

If you wish to achieve rich and dark skin tones in one go, this product is not for you.

Instead of getting a dark tan, you’ll only achieve light to medium shade, depending on your complexion.

Additionally, this mousse is suitable for people with light tones who want a slight hint of tan.

But, if you have a DARK complexion, you might as well buy a more reliable brand.

TIP: Use a tanning mitt for an even tan complexion.

Price

This tinted mousse costs $19.50 or $5.77 per ounce. Its price is not the cheapest option on the market.

Many say that you can buy other better choices for its price range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Now that you’ve read our review (or other reviews online), you might already know whether to buy and try this tinted mousse or not.

But, if you still have questions, don’t worry! We’ll answer them for you right away.

Can I Use the Tinted Tan Mousse on My Face?

YES!

This tanning mousse can be used on your face using a small mitt. But, be careful not to put it close to your eyes to avoid irritation.

Are There Any Alternatives to the NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse?

An amazing brand we can recommend as an alternative is the Isle of Paradise. Their tanning products come in drops, lotions, mousse, and more.

Their products are all vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. They use a blend of organic essential oils that helps keep the skin plump and smooth.

It also produces a color that suits your complexion. Hence, you can achieve that light, medium, or dark color tan you wish to have.

Isle of Paradise also uses naturally derived DHA.

It doesn’t leave a weird scent that smells like chemicals, so you don’t have to worry about lingering that bad smell on you.

Besides that, their formula is transfer-proof! No need to be scared that it will stain your favorite clothing.

Final Verdict: Should You Buy the NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse?

Final Thoughts

This is not the most impressive sunless tanner, but it’s also not the worst brand for sale. While many reviews find it disappointing, some are satisfied with this brand.

It doesn’t smell bad like other tanning products, even if you wait until you woke in the morning to have it washed off.

It’s relatively QUICK to dry, but you might need a bit more time to let the color develop. Plus, it produces a natural-looking tan!

If you want a light to medium tan, and if you’re in love with its no-smell technology, this can be your brand of choice.

Yet, other products can offer more tanning perks for the price range.
